I. We offer
The successful candidate will be part of a diverse, learning, competitive and professional organization, which offers real opportunities for personal development and in depth insights into the operation of a brand new container terminal, which is currently under construction (grand opening planned for the beginning of the year 2021). The candidate will report directly to the Deputy Planning Manager (Gate & yard).
II. Key responsibilities
- Manage continuous process of yard integrity, while performing on-going space utilization analysis.
- Responsible on a daily basis for ensuring that the yard operation runs in a manner that achieves maximum productivity and efficiency, with 100% system integrity as it relates to equipment location.
- Provides strategic yard lay-out settings and maintains vessel library.
- Create and maintain a yard set up which supports the terminals productivity targets per qquay crane operation & truck turn-times.
- Ensure that equipment location information has 100% accuracy & integrity.
- Check and support an accurate and efficient information flow on the terminal related to all yard activities.
- In co-operation with other planning staff set the overall yard strategy by assigning flexible allocation per service.
- Control yard space allocation by service, nominated vessel, pod, equipment type, special handling (i.e. hazardous, temperature controlled etc.) for empty and loaded equipment.
- Monitor and fine-tune the terminal operating system in order to ensure that yard planning is satisfactory and meets the strategy requirements.
- Prepare the 'yard work plan' on a daily basis and communicate to relevant persons where the equipment has to be located.
- Prepare the work flow related to housekeeping, empty movement, corrections etc.
- Report on a weekly basis on the status of production, yard density, equipment utilization and strategy/allocation changes.
- Release containers once customs clearance and line approval are done.
- Nominate empty equipment for shipment as directed by the concerned shipping line.
- The position is responsible for considering and ensuring the confidentiality of all works, documents and information received during the course of work performance with due diligence and not to disclose any confidential information to any third-party for any purpose that is not related to the company’s business during and after the employment with Gemalink.
III. The canndidate
- Have a minimum college degree in maritime, preferable in logistics.
- Minimum 1 years of experience in container terminal operations environment.
- Knowledge of container, commodity, customs formality.
- Extensive experience with terminal operations planning software.
- Solid understanding of terminal operations and planning systems as well as software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- A forward thinking and creative individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization.
- Punctual, well organized, high sense of responsibility.
- Ability to speak fluently in English (verbally and written).
