Gemadept honored in Top 10 Green Vietnam ESG Enterprises 2026

04.06.2026

Within the framework of the 2026 Research and Recognition Program on ESG Commitments and Implementation in Core Economic Sectors, Viet Research, in collaboration with the Finance and Investment Newspaper under the Ministry of Finance, has announced the Top 10 Green Vietnam ESG Enterprises 2026 (ESG10) for the Logistics Industry.

Against the backdrop of a global economy under significant pressure from climate change, supply chain disruptions, and the required transition to a low-carbon development model, the logistics industry—a vital link in the supply chain—faces an urgent demand for a powerful transformation. Simultaneously, rising geopolitical tensions, particularly the complex US-Iran relationship and the risk of escalating conflict in the Middle East, are increasing instability in global energy and transportation costs. This not only puts pressure on fuel prices but also disrupts strategic shipping routes, forcing the logistics industry to enhance its adaptability and risk management capabilities.

According to a survey of industry businesses conducted by Viet Research, the Vietnamese logistics sector is entering an ESG transition phase that brings numerous opportunities but also presents significant hurdles. The biggest challenge stems from high initial capital investments required for green infrastructure, energy-saving technologies, and data systems, while financial support mechanisms, green credits, and policy incentives remain uncoordinated.

Furthermore, many enterprises face limitations in management capabilities, suffer from a shortage of specialized personnel, and struggle to meet increasingly stringent international ESG standards, particularly regarding whole-chain emission measurement. However, this is also a period where the industry is shifting dynamically from mere commitment to substantive action by utilizing data as a management foundation, prioritizing the optimization of operational efficiency for short-term gains, linking ESG with capital accessibility, and progressively greening logistics infrastructure. This trend demonstrates that ESG is no longer just a compliance requirement, but is becoming a decisive criterion for competitiveness, integration capability, and long-term positioning within global supply chains.

The ESG10 was designed to establish a set of ESG evaluation criteria tailored to Vietnam’s localized conditions while maintaining compatibility with international standards, simultaneously fostering healthy competition among enterprises to improve their ESG practices. The program also contributes to building a database of ESG practices to support research and policymaking for sustainable development.

Gemadept Group and its subsidiary, Cai Mep Gemadept – Terminal Link Port Joint Stock Company, were honored together in the rankings, confirming the powerful commitment of both Gemadept and Gemalink on their greening journey. Their efforts contribute to driving the sustainable development of Vietnam’s maritime industry and expanding its reach worldwide.

Looking ahead, Gemadept aims to not only lead in business scale and efficiency but also to become a pioneering role model, inspiring a new era of sustainable development across the regional maritime and logistics sectors. Gemadept believes that a responsible development path will generate lasting value and shared prosperity, ultimately elevating Vietnam’s standing on the global economic map.
