In 2025, Vietnam’s economy faces a historic opportunity stemming from the upgrade of its stock market to emerging market status and the wave of global supply chain shifts.
The nation’s aspirations to ascend require a corresponding port and logistics infrastructure. At the age of 35, Gemadept Corporate (Stock code: GMD), a leader in port operation and logistics, not only welcomes this opportunity but also proactively assumes a pioneering position, creating strategic maritime infrastructure to realize Vietnam’s ambition to prosper and develop based on its maritime resources.
The world economy in 2025 witnesses a clear differentiation: trade growth is being boosted, but geopolitical risks and new tariff barriers remain unpredictable. In the context of many ASEAN economies having to downgrade their GDP growth expectations, Vietnam is assessed to have the opportunity to become a “new star” of the region, where breakthrough decisions on infrastructure and digital transformation play an important role.
As one of the leading players in Vietnam’s port and logistics sector, Gemadept has flexibly overcome obstacles and proactively grasped growth opportunities. The Company has not only embraced the wave of supply chain shifts but has also consolidated its position by expanding market share and optimizing operational efficiency across its entire port and logistics ecosystem, from North to South.
Impressive numbers in the first 9 months of 2025
Ending the first 9 months of 2025, Gemadept established impressive growth milestones, reinforcing strong confidence among shareholders: nine-month net revenue reached VND 4,331 billion, a 27% increase year-over-year. Profit-before-tax from core business operations reached VND 1,772 billion, a strong increase of 25%. These figures demonstrate that Gemadept’s profit is derived from the substantial, sustainable growth of its core business activities, rather than relying on extraordinary income.
In the third quarter of 2025 alone, the Company completed 89% of its full-year revenue plan and excellently achieved 98% of its full-year profit plan. Total throughput across the port system reached 3.7 million TEUs, up 16% compared to the same period, surpassing the overall average market growth rate. This reflects the Company’s ability to maintain high support from existing customers while simultaneously attracting new service routes and new customers.

Gemalink International Port: Vietnam’s largest deep-sea port, ranked among the Top 19 globally for accommodating the largest container vessels
Infrastructure Foundation – Long-Term Vision for a New Era
In the Northern region, in line with the orientation of Resolution 226/2025/QH15 on developing Hai Phong into an international logistics center, Gemadept has completed the most important piece: putting Phase 3 of Nam Dinh Vu Port into operation in 2025. With 1.5 km of berth, spanning an area of 65 hectares, a total capacity of more than 2 million TEUs, and the ability to receive seven feeder vessels simultaneously, Nam Dinh Vu is the largest port in the North, optimally meeting the needs of Intra-Asia vessels with a capacity of up to 50,000 DWT.
The outstanding distinguishing feature of Nam Dinh Vu Port is its closed ecosystem model encompassing port, ICD, depot, and logistics. This model provides a comprehensive solution that helps optimize the cost and time for FDI enterprises, manufacturers, and import/export businesses.
In terms of connectivity, Nam Dinh Vu has a dual advantage: it is located in a free trade zone and serves as the gateway to the Kunming – Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong economic corridor. In particular, with the boost from the Lao Cai – Hai Phong railway project (starting construction in December 2025), Nam Dinh Vu Port in particular and Gemadept’s port – logistics ecosystem are transforming strongly to become a smart and sustainable logistics center, contributing positively to the global supply chain.
Along with Nam Dinh Vu Port, a key project in the strategy to form an international logistics hub, Gemadept’s Gemalink deep-sea port in the South, located in the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port cluster, is working tirelessly to realize its global ambition. It is creating the core of a new world maritime center, right in the era of Vietnam’s ascension.
Gemalink Port is ranked among the Top 19 seaports worldwide capable of accommodating the largest mega-vessels currently operating, with a capacity of up to 250,000 DWT. As a strategic gateway, Gemalink contributes to positioning Vietnam as a vital link in the global supply chain, directly connecting goods from Asia to Europe, the Americas, Africa, etc. Every week, Gemalink continuously welcomes the newest, most modern “giants” from the world’s leading shipping line alliances to its berth.
Looking to the future, as Phase 2 and Phase 3 are about to commence construction, the picture of Gemalink Port is being sketched with a new stature: increasing capacity to over 3 million TEUs per year, and the berth stretching 1.5 km. Notably, Gemalink will be able to simultaneously receive 3 to 4 of the world’s largest container vessels, realizing the goal of becoming one of the leading trade gateways in the Asia-Pacific region.
A new maritime center of the 21st century cannot be isolated from the green and smart trend. Gemadept has been and is continuing to strive, with high determination on the journey of greening and digitalization. Gemadept is one of the first enterprises in Vietnam to proactively inventory and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions according to international standard ISO 14064-1, with independent third-party assessment. Furthermore, the Company’s nationwide port system has achieved the Green Certificate of the Vietnam Maritime Administration (TCCS 02:2022/CHHVN).
In line with the Government’s Net Zero 2050 commitment, Gemadept has made green logistics a central focus of its long-term development strategy. A recent example is the cooperation agreement signed between Gemadept and the shipping line CMA-CGM (France) to establish a joint venture that will provide Vietnam’s first 100% electric container barge transport solution.
This project not only opens a new chapter in the commitment to developing green logistics but also affirms Gemadept’s pioneering role in this revolution, helping to improve the efficiency of domestic transport. This initiative simultaneously symbolizes a strong commitment to sustainable development and highlights the capability of a Vietnamese enterprise to integrate and reach international stature.
The Foundation for Sustainability
The journey of digital transformation and green transformation has been deployed gradually and synchronously across Gemadept’s facilities with practical and effective steps. Digital transformation is not only about applying technology but also about changing management mindset. Smart port helps optimize operations, ensure data transparency, and provide the best experience for customers.
In addition, the Company invests in cranes and cargo handling equipment that run entirely on electricity, utilizing clean and renewable energy. This not only demonstrates environmental responsibility but also becomes a competitive advantage, attracting shipping lines and import-export customers, thus ensuring compliance with international standards on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).
35 Years – Moving in Lockstep with the Nation
The impressive business results, the subsequent deployment and expansion of large-scale, modern port and logistics infrastructure projects, and the pioneering steps taken alongside the Government in major maritime infrastructure works have demonstrate the strong internal capacity of Gemadept. Above all, they attest to a sound strategy of linking the Company’s growth with the nation’s goal of ascension.
The year 2026 is expected to be a pivotal year for a new, breakthrough growth cycle in Vietnam. This is the period when Nam Dinh Vu Phase 3 stabilizes operations, contributing significantly to Gemadept’s business results, and Gemalink Phase 2’s construction is launched. The completion of these crucial infrastructure links not only opens up room for growth in volume, revenue, and profit but also creates a firm foundation for Gemadept to continue developing large-scale port and logistics projects, anticipating the country’s new development cycle.
Gemadept’s journey is the story of an enterprise that has consistently moved in sync with the nation’s momentum, ceaselessly joining hands to build a solid infrastructure foundation and accelerate overall development. Entering its 35th year and looking toward the 2030 vision and beyond, Gemadept is committed to continuing its participation in key projects, striving to be a pioneering, healthy, sustainable, and highly efficient enterprise in Vietnam’s maritime industry.
Gemadept extends its deepest gratitude to its esteemed shareholders, investors, customers, partners, relevant agencies, press, and media for always believing in, supporting, and accompanying Gemadept and the business community. Although the road ahead holds many challenges, the Company strives to contribute positively to the policy of developing the maritime and logistics sector, enhancing national competitiveness, developing the marine economy sustainably, and multiplying the value delivered to all stakeholders.
