Ho Chi Minh City, March 30th, 2026 – Today, Gemadept and CJ Logistics have agreed to implement a strategic optimization of Logistics and Shipping operations to leverage the competitive advantages of both companies.
Gemadept is a leading Vietnamese corporation in Port Operations and Logistics, owning and operating an integrated ecosystem at strategic locations nationwide. With 36 years of experience, the Group has continuously strived to grow, affirm its pioneering position, optimize cargo flows, and connect Vietnam with the global supply chain.
CJ Logistics is a leading logistics corporation headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, with an extensive network across more than 40 countries. The Group provides comprehensive supply chain solutions, from distribution centers to last-mile delivery services, powered by advanced technology platforms.
This strategy not only marks a new milestone in the development journey of both parties but also opens up opportunities to leverage strengths and potentials toward future growth.
From over 8 years of sustainable partnership to a new development milestone
Over more than 8 years since the establishment of the joint venture (in 2018), the strategic partnership between Gemadept and CJ Logistics has achieved notable milestones, continuously expanding markets and delivering practical value to both parties as well as to customers and partners.
At present, in light of new opportunities and each party’s development orientation, both sides have agreed on a strategic direction for Logistics and Shipping operations going forward. This aims to optimize resources, sharpen focus on each party’s core competitive strengths, and continue cooperation for mutual and sustainable growth.
Specifically, the strategic cooperation structure for the Logistics and Shipping joint ventures is as follows:
- Gemadept will invest in and fully manage 100% of Shipping operations; and Gemadept will directly invest in and hold a 49% equity stake in Mekong Logistics Joint Stock Company (“MKL”)
- CJ Logistics will invest in and fully manage 100% of 3PL Logistics service operations.
For CJ Logistics – Enhancing integrated solutions with a Distribution Center-centric strategy
Leveraging its strength in applying information technology to 3PL services, CJ Logistics will accelerate its strategy of expanding and connecting distribution centers, meeting diverse demands and increasingly high operational standards for end users.
For Gemadept – the strategy of “Container-centric and taking Port-Logistics Ecosystem as the core”
This strategy aims to maximize and enrich the Port-Logistics ecosystem. The Group adopts a Container-centric business model and integrates Ports and logistics Service chains (Port-Logistics) to enhance synergies and improve operational efficiency.
With its solid infrastructure foundation and strong network of customers and partners, Gemadept expects to realize the following benefits from this strategy:
- Value enhancement through cargo volume scale across Gemadept’s port system: Surpassing 5 million TEUs in 2025 and targeting capacity growth in key economic regions nationwide.
- Strengthening Shipping operations: Focusing on ownership and operation of the fleet to enhance ecosystem connectivity, improve competitiveness, and contribute to reducing national logistics costs.
- Expanding the cold supply chain: Increasing ownership and management of Mekong Logistics’ cold storage system will serve as a strategic platform to further develop the cold supply chain in the Mekong Delta and other potential regions in the future.
Commitment to delivering value to customers, partners, and contributing to industry and national development
Both parties will continue to maintain and strengthen their partnership through a new Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed on March 4, 2026, aiming to continuously improve service quality for their respective customers.
Gemadept and CJ Logistics are committed to ensuring service stability for customers while delivering added value to partners and investors. By optimizing supply chains, both parties will continue to fulfill their mission of facilitating the cargo flow and enhancing the position of Vietnam’s logistics industry on the global map.
