The 2026 Red Flamboyant Flower Festival coincides with the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of Hai Phong (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2026). This is a major political and cultural event for the city to honor its rich history and affirm its solid position as a modern and livable international metropolis.

With a total berth length of 1,540 meters and a capacity of over 2 million TEUs per year, this port cluster is capable of simultaneously receiving 7 feeder vessels, fully meeting the growth demands of intra-Asia shipping and anticipating the shifting wave of global production chains.
Also in Hai Phong, Gemadept has affirmed its role as a pioneering private enterprise in the public-private partnership model through the project to upgrade the depth of the Ha Nam Canal channel. By proactively investing to upgrade the standard channel depth to -8.5 meters, the project has solved the problem of congestion caused by shallow channels, changing the centuries-old maritime practices of the region as cargo ships no longer have to anchor and wait for the tide.
Clearing this vital artery brings direct and practical benefits to the entire region, making the Ha Nam Canal now ready to welcome fully loaded vessels of up to 50,000 DWT. This directly helps shipping lines optimize vessel capacity, reduce operating costs by 20% to 30%, and enhance the maritime safety coefficient. Gemadept’s tireless efforts not only elevate the competitive capacity of the entire Hai Phong port area but also serve as a clear testament to the spirit of proactively accompanying the State in untangling national infrastructure bottlenecks.
