Gemalink Port honored with Certificate of Merit at the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Patriotic Emulation Congress

28.10.2025

On October 25, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC organized the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Patriotic Emulation Congress (2025–2030). The congress was attended by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; HCMC Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang; Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc; and other high-ranking city officials, alongside nearly 500 exemplary delegates and individuals from the 2020–2025 patriotic emulation movements.

During the Congress, Gemalink Port, a member of Gemadept’s Port and Logistics ecosystem, was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit for its outstanding achievements in developing green seaports in Ho Chi Minh City, pursuant to Decision No. 2231/QD-UBND signed on October 20, 2025.

This recognition affirms the pioneering role of Gemalink Port and Gemadept Group in developing modern port infrastructure aligned with green and sustainable growth objectives.

Gemalink’s “Green Port” achievements carry profound strategic significance, particularly within the new context of Ho Chi Minh City. This recognition comes shortly after the city’s merger with Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Binh Duong provinces, officially ushering in a new era of development and forming the “country’s largest urban-industrial-port region.”

In the vision for this “Super City,” the seaport system serves as a key pillar to ensure synchronized infrastructure and sustainable growth. As a pioneering leader in Vietnam’s maritime industry driven by national spirit, Gemadept and Gemalink have stayed ahead of global trends by investing not only in scale but also in the “Green Port” model.

This success is evidenced by Gemalink being the first port in Vietnam to receive the Green Certificate from the Vietnam Maritime Administration (TCCS 02:2022/CHHVN). Furthermore, it is among the pioneers in conducting greenhouse gas inventories according to the international ISO 14064-1:2018 standard. The port strictly adheres to ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) while actively utilizing clean energy, including a fleet of 24 electric e-RTG cranes and a partnership to deploy 100% electric (Zero Carbon) barges.

This version is best for official reports or press releases, using precise language to reflect the government’s slogans.

“Being honored as an outstanding model in the patriotic emulation movement demonstrates that Gemalink’s model is perfectly aligned with the mission: ‘Unity, Innovation, Creativity, and Emulation to build a pioneering Ho Chi Minh City, entering a new era with the whole nation,’ as launched by HCMC Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc. This ‘innovation and creativity’ is clearly reflected in Gemalink’s superior operational capacity. As Vietnam’s largest deep-sea port and one of only 19 worldwide capable of receiving the largest mega-container ships (up to 250,000 DWT), Gemalink has consistently set new records in cargo handling—achieving a throughput of 30,000 TEUs within 24 hours. Furthermore, it leads the way in adopting smart port software, such as Smartport and Rivergate, to optimize operations.

Gemalink Port’s achievement is a concrete action that transforms the emulation movement into tangible results. It contributes to realizing the ambition of building a prosperous, modern, and civilized Ho Chi Minh City, poised to become a leading innovation hub for both the country and the region.
