On January 9, 2025, Gemadept solemnly held the 2025 Spring Celebration and marked the milestone of the Company’s 35th anniversary.
This particularly meaningful event was attended by the Company’s leadership, over a thousand employees from both the North and South connected via a live broadcast, and especially, the presence of generations of staff who had been associated with Gemadept, as well as guests. Everyone joined together to reminisce about the proud 35-year journey and look towards a bright future.
Gemadept’s journey is built on the will, determination and desire to constantly improve of a pioneering Vietnamese enterprise paving the way at sea, connecting Vietnamese goods to international markets. Starting in 1990, without land, assets or capital, Gemadept now owns and operates a Port and Logistics Ecosystem stretching from North to South, in strategic and key economic regions.
“Looking back over the past 35 years, I believe we all have the right to be proud of having contributed a part of our efforts to Gemadept’s development. Overcoming many difficulties, with both sweat and tears, we have built one of the leading effective enterprises in Vietnam’s maritime industry,” shared Mr. Do Van Nhan, Chairman of Gemadept.
After more than 3 decades, Gemadept now owns and operates an ecosystem of 6 ports from North to South, including Gemalink Deep-sea Port, one of the Top 19 ports in the world capable of receiving the largest vessels up to 250,000 DWT; along with an integrated Logistics network in 6 fields including Distribution Center, Air Cargo Terminal, Waterway Transport, Project Cargo Transport, Cold Chain Logistics and Automotive Logistics.
Gemadept’s development journey is also closely tied to its steady progress in the capital market. From the 1993 equitization turning point to the 2002 stock market listing milestone, Gemadept recorded impressive achievements, joining the billion-dollar enterprise club – a testament to the sustainable growth in asset size and capitalization. This remarkable development is the result of an effective business strategy, transparent governance, and the dedication of the Company’s leadership, the efforts of the staff, the support of customers, partners, shareholders, investors, and the assistance of government agencies.
Gemadept’s 35-year journey can be compared to a journey of tempering and maturing through hardships and challenges of a human being. This has continued to motivate and inspire the Vietnamese business community and make an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
Not only focusing on production and business operations, Gemadept employees have always actively joined hands in meaningful social activities, most recently the practical action immediately following Typhoon Yagi. In just two weeks, Company employees donated over 6 billion VND to support people affected by the storm, helping them to quickly overcome their losses and stabilize their lives.
These profound imprints were concisely and impressively recreated in an emotional documentary about Gemadept’s 35-year journey. Additionally, attendees heard heartfelt sharing from employee representatives at both Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong locations, creating a warm and united atmosphere of a big family reminiscing about cherished achievements and joyfully welcoming the New Year with bright goals and hopes.
Contributing vibrant and brilliant spring colors to the program were diverse creative works ranging from literature, poetry, and music to emotional expressions and wishes written from the feelings of employees for Gemadept through the creative movement, and especially the extremely unique, professional, and grand “homegrown” artistic performances. The youthful and lively melodies, the beautiful and graceful fashion shows… demonstrated the talent and bravery of the Gemadept team, who not only give their all in work but also in cultural, sports, and social activities full of humanity.
The Gemadept 35th Anniversary and 2025 Spring Celebration program concluded in a warm and emotionally charged atmosphere. Every member of the Gemadept extended family, as well as the guests, were delighted and confident in the Company’s future development.
